Release stage 1: Now available
DIY abdominals
All Laser engraved treads & patterns, faux connectors, greeblies, rivets and so forth have been painstakingly recreated from the TV series, in-house and are exclusive to Starbase3d.
Stage 1 consists of the panels for the abdominal region. The span exposed below the chest down through the cod piece. Not only does this fill that open area but gives a layer of pinch protection for the sensitive spots.
You receive
A total of 15 precision laser engraved foam panels (Image callouts 1-9 & mirrored parts)
A pair of hi-definition resin chest greebles, new to season 2 (Image callout ‘A’)
Several faux armor connection greebles as seen in seasons 1 & 2 (Image callout ‘B’)
Several black rivets.
Additional pieces of foam left from the manufacturing of your parts to give you practice material so you can confirm paint and adhesive compatibility.
Based on feedback we are providing unpainted black foam panels. This allows you to follow your chosen plan and techniques when it comes to foam finishing, using the same brands of supplies used elsewhere on your costume for a consistent look.
As photos show this takes all the common weathering techniques very well, providing realistic dust, dirt and grime. We’ve tested with a variety of glues, brush and spray paints.
Release stage 2: Coming soon - DIY back panels
Release stage 3: Coming soon - DIY bracer (forearm) panels
Release stage 4: Coming soon - DIY leg panels
After that - we’ll begin making ready-to-wear modules for each of the DIY kits.
At this time we’re not focusing on the chest and over-the-shoulders portions that are hidden by armor anyway, to avoid added heat build-up for no visible benefit.
** When sizing your armor allow for the thickness of a sweater or sweat shirt
Application / wear
It is recommended to apply the panels to a layer worn over your morph-suit, stretch performance shirt such as a T-Shirt. Adhesive such as Barge Cement, fabric glue and other contact cements that remain flexible after curing works well.
